Roy Gene Carroll Sr.

Roy Gene Carroll Sr., 71, of Winchester, husband for 50 years to Frances Ann Fogleman Carroll, was called home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 1:31a.m. at the Clark Regional Medical Center after a long illness of COPD.

He was born in Lexington on May 14, 1946, to the late Mary Elizabeth Clark Carroll and David Baker Carroll Sr.; he was raised by the late Geneva Pence Carroll. He was a United States Army veteran, retired HVAC of over 40 years;

Roy worked with the Winchester Fire Department from November 6, 1978 and left as a Lieutenant August 9, 1985, he was a faithful member of Dunaway United Methodist Church for more than 30 years and served in numerous leadership positions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, James Carroll of Middletown, OH and David B. (Carolyn) Carroll Jr of Plano, TX.

Roy is the father of three children, Roy Gene (Angie) Carroll Jr., Ann “Sissy” Marie (Tony) Carroll Fairchild and Jason Michael Carroll, nine grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Carroll (Corinna Birka), Keaton Elizabeth Carroll, Ashlyn Delaney Carroll, Branson Eli Carroll, Josiah Fairchild, Brittany (Alex) Barrett, Morgan Montgomery, Lindsey Montgomery and Will Evans and one great-grandson, Grayson Wade Carroll, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street with Rev. Robbie Shrout presiding.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.

Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Carroll, Roy Carroll, Jason Carroll, Donnie Stephens, Paul Fisher, Jeff Dearing and Dennis Dearing.

Honorary pallbearers are Tony Fairchild, Kevin and Ronnie Hughes, Garland Dearing, Chris Livermore, Aaron Mansfield, Mark Phillips and Don McGuire.
