Estill County High School students are taking action after a recent county-wide survey showed a growing need to inform older residents of services available to them.
Members of the Service Learning Program at Estill High are planning a Community Senior Resource Fair that is expected to be the largest of its kind in the region.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will involve non-profits, government agencies, resources, exhibits and expert speakers.
It will be at the Estill County High School gymnasium on Saturday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, it will be on March 20.
Attendees will have access to retirement planning, Social Security information, information on power of attorney, Alzheimer’s, fall prevention, personal safety, senior nutrition, exercise, community service and volunteer opportunities.
For more information, call Teresa Dawes, service learning/community education director for Estill County Schools, at (606)723-2181 ext. 226.
