First United Methodist drug deaths memorial

Winchester First United Methodist Church is inviting the public to participate in a community-wide memorial service on Sunday, March 14, at the Bridge Campus, located in Winchester Plaza at 6 p.m.

The service is in memory of those who have died of drug overdoses, as well as those who live with permanent injuries from drugs.

The church said it aims to release those who are addicted and the families of those who struggle with drug addiction from the stigma and shame society places on them.

More than 5 million people die each year of drug overdoses, and a large number die yearly in Clark County.

The wives, husbands, parents, children, brothers and sisters overdose leaves in its wake are often forgotten.
