For the 15th year, those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be remembered and local emergency responders will be honored during the Blue Mass, scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The annual service is hosted by the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization operating under the precepts of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

The inaugural ceremony took place in 2002, on the one-year anniversary of the attacks to honor the memory of the emergency responders and others who died in the attacks.

The mass grew into a community event and an opportunity to celebrate local police officers, deputies, firefighters and emergency medical services

Responders from Clark County Fire Department, Winchester Fire-EMS, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Winchester Police Department are invited.

The local mass is one of the few in the state that is still held annually.

Following mass there will be a light lunch served at the church, located at 248 S. Main St.
