Cards take 4th at Cassell Creek

The George Rogers Clark High School girls golf team held its annual invitational at Cassell Creek Golf Course Saturday and walked away with a fourth-place team finish.

The Cardinals were led by their senior, Hannah Ritchie, who shot an 83 and finished tied for seventh among individual finishers.

GRC’s Hannah Curreri and Molly Franklin each shot an 86, finishing ninth. E.A. Nisbet shot an 103 and Johnna Brown a 104.

The Cardinals shot a combined 358 as a team. Martha Layne Collins finished with a 336 to win the team tournament. Morgan County shot a 343 for second place and Johnson Central finished with a 350. GRC finished nine strokes ahead of Harrison County.

Johnson Central’s Zoee Crum won the individual tournament with a 69. Morgan Markwell, of Morgan County,  shot a 72 for second place. Ashland Blazer’s Abby Crites shot a 77 for third place.

GRC’s second team scored a combined 471 for 10th place overall out of 15 teams. Joy Lisle shot a 111, Brenna Rose finished with 112, Ella Lucas shot a 118 and Kaitlyn Wiseman shot a 130.

The Cardinals face Scott County in a match Monday afternoon and will honor Ritchie as part of senior night festivities.
