Three George Rogers Clark High School seniors have been named commended students in the national merit scholarship program. They are Chanda J. Abney, Bennett C. Gatson and Elizabeth A. Moberly.

Winchester firefighters extinguished a grass fire on Enterprise Drive at 2:54 p.m. Sunday. Fire department officials said the fire was caused by a power line that arced and fell to the ground, burning one acre of grass.

The Rev. Gene Ratliff, evangelist, will be the speaker for revival services with special singing at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Winchester Church of the Nazarene, Iron Works Road.
