Dozens of athletes from 11 different Kentucky Signature Hometown HealthCARE facilities, including Fountain Circle Care and Rehabilitation, participated in Senior Olympics Wednesday at Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation’s College Park Gym.

Competitors at the day-long event participated in physical, cognitive and sensory perception games.

This year, the theme was “Signature Safari,” and included games like trivia, animal track matching, spelling bee, a scavenger hunt and even a race. The day also included crafts and food.

Kelsey Hackett, regional quality of life director for Signature HealthCARE, said the Senior Olympics is all part of the quality of life department, which aims to provide meaning to the lives of residents through day-to-day programming and big events, like the Olympics.

“Events like this give them something to look forward to,” Hackett said. “It allows them to socialize with other people they might not see every day.

“They don’t get to participate in stuff like this often, so it’s an opportunity for them to feel like champs.”

This is the third year the Senior Olympics have been hosted at College Park Gym.
