Rabies clinic Sept. 27

The Clark County Health Department and Clark County Veterinary Clinic will have a rabies clinic from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 27 at the veterinary clinic, 116 Hud Road. Cost is $5.

Zoning adjustments special meeting

The Winchester-Clark County Board of Zoning Adjustments will have a special meeting and public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in the city commission chambers at Winchester City Hall.

County pay grade committee meetings

The Clark County Fiscal Court’s classification and pay grade committee has called the following special meetings for county employees:

— 8 a.m. Oct. 3 at Clark County Fire Department Station 1 for fire department employees

— 8 a.m. Oct. 5 at Clark County Animal Shelter for shelter employees

— 9 a.m. Oct. 5 at Clark County Animal Shelter for home incarceration employees

— 8 a.m. Oct. 18 at Clark County Road Department for department employees.

GIS Board meeting Sept. 27

The Clark County Consortium for GIS Board of Directors will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Winchester Municipal Utilities

Seeking stories and photos of black life 

The Winchester Black History and Heritage Committee is seeking stories and photos that accurately depict black life, history and culture in Winchester for an upcoming book project. The committee needs the materials by Oct. 1. To share items, contact one of the following committee members: Anne Berry, Jane Burnam, Connie Curry, Carolyn Hampton, Jacquetta Hudson, Joyce Morton, Elton Parish, James Robinson or Brenda Smith.

Clark County Community Foundation meeting

There will be a special meeting of the Clark County Fiscal Court’s community foundation committee at 8 a.m. Thursday. Sept. 29, in the Clark County Courthouse conference room.

Part of Red River Road temporarily closed

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has scheduled a temporary road closure for KY 974/Red River Road in Clark County. The closure is necessary for pipe replacement work. The road will be closed between Jackson Ferry Road (mile point 6.514) and White-Conkwright Road (mile point 9.666) from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Generations of Hope Sept. 24

Trust for Life, Winchester Black History and Heritage Committee and First Baptist Church invite the public to Generations of Hope, an evening of entertainment and fellowship, 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St. First Baptist choir and youth dancers will perform. Transplant recipients form the community will speak. Clergy, medical professionals, attorneys and funeral directors will be available to answer questions about organ donation. Dinner will be served. RSVP to 737-7141 or by text/voicemail to 749-1483.

Parents’ Pathway at Corinth Baptist Church

The Winchester Black History and Heritage Committee will host a Parents’ Pathway for college/university success meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Corinth Baptist Church, 37 Fifth St. The meeting will provide information about processes and procedures to get to college, including admissions, financial aid, scholarship, ACT tests and grade point averages.

— Introduction to Genealogy, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays, Oct. 3 – 31, free.

— Painting a Pumpkin, Gourd or Squash, Tuesday, Oct. 3: adults, 1 to 2:30 p.m., $20; Children (ages 8 to 12), 4 to 5:30 p.m. , $15.

— Yoga Fitness, 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 5 to Nov. 16, $25.

— Bellydance Fitness, 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 5 to Nov.16, $30.

— Book Making (for children ages 10 – 16), Thursdays, Oct. 6-20, 5-7 p.m., $25

GriefShare starts Oct. 3
