Fred Curtis Shortridge, age 82, of Henderson, originally from Winchester, KY, passed away at 4:25am, Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, KY.

Fred was preceded in death by his Mother Dova, Father Fred, Wife JoAnn, Brothers: Earl, CB and Homer, Sisters: Louise Neal and Grace Burgess.

Fred was a 45-year employee with The Wiser Oil Company transferring from Leeco, KY to Henderson in 1971. He was awarded Wiser’s “Man of the Year” award numerous times for his outstanding service. Fred was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel and was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Henderson.

Fred was an avid fisherman, an accomplished bowler, enjoyed entertaining at his Ellis Park Skybox and was a huge UK basketball fan.

His Fiance’ and Companion of nearly 20 years – Juanita Osborne and her loving family Glen Osborne and children Caroline and Andrew; Cynthia Osborne and children Katie (Robert) Duncan, Emily (Jake) Roberts and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Daughters: Darlene (William) Carver of Ringgold, GA and Shirley Stewart of Louisville, KY

Son: Brian (Carrie) Shortridge of Richmond, IN

Grandchildren – Jason (Jennifer) Hobbs, Kellie (Kory)Tapp, Sheena Moulton, Chris (Kelley) Brady, Shelton Shortridge

Great Grandchildren – 8

Numerous nieces and nephews located throughout Kentucky

Henderson, KY Arrangements: Relatives and friends are invited to Fred’s Life Celebration from 4 -7 pm on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 7:00pm with Dr. Tim Hobbs officiating.

Local Arrangements: There will be visitation at Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester, KY starting at noon on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm with Dr. Tim Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at The Winchester Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Fred be made to the Principal Reduction Fund at Community Baptist Church, 1026 Pebble Creek Drive, Henderson, KY 42420.
