James “Jim” Edward Boone, 68

James “Jim” Edward Boone, 68, of Winchester, Kentucky, went to meet his Heavenly Father on September 23, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born in Pine Knob, Kentucky on March 30, 1948. He graduated from Venice High School in Venice, Florida in 1966. He continued his education at the Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jim was married to Vicki Cooper Boone on June 29, 1991; they were married 25 years.

Jim worked as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Companies for 39 years. He served previously as the president of the Winchester Area Association of Life Underwriters. He was on the Board of Directors at the Rosemary C. Brooks assisted living facility. He served as a member of the Clark County Christian School Board for several years. He attended the Winchester First Church of God, where he served in several positions, including Sunday School teacher, Head Elder and Head Usher, among other positions. He was also an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his only child, Shelby Lynn Boone of Winchester, KY, one brother, Bill (JoAnna) Boone of Caneyville, KY, two sisters Janet Laswell of Louisville, KY, Mary Nell (Michael) Jackson of Fisherville, KY, a sister-in-law Wilma Boone of Pine Knob, KY, several nephews and nieces and other family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William Hollis and Edna Hazel (Young) Boone, and his brother Bob Boone.

A funeral service will be held at Winchester First Church of God on Tuesday, September 27 at 1:00pm with Pastors Gary Brown, Allan Hutchinson, and Ron Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held at Winchester First Church of God on Monday, September 26 from 5:00-8:00pm andTuesday, September 27 at 12:00pm. Burial will follow the funeral at The Winchester Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Scobee Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Clark County Christian School in Winchester KY.
