Winchester native Lark Watts will likely let out a sigh of relief today as his first album hits record stores — something he has been anticipating for some time. Now the waiting and worrying begins to see how “Ghost Town” sells and how the new artist is received. The 24-year-old singer/songwriter hopes the 10 tracks on his first release relay the message he is trying to project.

Turner’s Gym of Winchester is planning a bodybuilding contest for men and women ages 18 and up, which will include a Mr. and Mrs. Winchester division as well as a Strongman division. The gym hopes to put the contest on at the Leeds Theater.

A plaque honoring the founder and charter member of the Boonesboro Lions Club was dedicated Sept. 26 in ceremonies at the club’s park on the Ford-Hampton Road. The plaque, mounted in a stone post at the entrance to the property identifies the land as a gift from the family of the late Ealler Dykes.
