Junior Civitan coat drive ends Oct. 15

The Baker Intermediate School Junior Civitan club will be collecting coats, gloves, hats and scarves this week for the Beacon of Hope. Items can be left at Gaunce’s, Tractor Supply, the Winchester Police Department, Winchester Fire-EMS Station 2 on Fulton Road, Rural King and Kroger. For more information, call 931-854-5825.

Extension district board meeting Oct. 17

The Clark County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

The following Community Education classes begin next week.

Fix a Feral Cat meeting

“Fix a Feral Cat Campaign: Plan to Spay/Neuter Feral Cats in Clark County” will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Public Library. Licensing board meeting Monday

The Winchester Licensing Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Winchester City Hall. Items on the agenda include discussion of three businesses with delinquent business licenses , one operating without a license and an application by Broadway Liquor and Bar to sell retail malt beverage package and drink sales.

Sylvania retirees meeting Oct. 11

Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will have a short meeting at the Union Hall at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and travel to Natural Bridge Park for lunch. at 11:30. All Winchester Sylvania retirees and former employees are always welcome to join us for lunch.

Absentee voting begins Tuesday

Absentee voting will begin Tuesday for Clark County voters who will be out of the county during election day, Nov. 8. Hours for absentee voting at the Clark County Clerk’s office are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Grimes is featured artist 

The Winchester Black History and Heritage Committee is sponsoring featured artist Le Datta Grimes and “Words to Live By,” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum.

First Settlers meeting Oct. 11

The sixth meeting for residents of the Ford and Kentucky River area will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the First Settlers House on Old Boonesboro Road.

Fiscal court insurance meeting

The Clark County Fiscal Court insurance committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday  in the courthouse conference room. The only item on the agenda is a presentation concerning open enrollment.
