Second Thursday about Wilderness Trail
The October Second Thursday program will be a program by Kevin Palmer about surviving the Wilderness Trail, which was the principal path for settlers to reach Kentucky in the late 1700s. the programs begins at 6:30 p.m. today at the Bluegrass Heritage Museum, 217 S. Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served after the program. For more information, call 745-1358.
Junior Civitan coat drive ends Friday

The Baker Intermediate School Junior Civitan club will be collecting coats, gloves, hats and scarves this week for the Beacon of Hope. Items can be left at Gaunce’s, Tractor Supply, the Winchester Police Department, Winchester Fire-EMS Station 2 on Fulton Road, Rural King and Kroger. For more information, call 931-854-5825.

The Clark County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Oct. 18 at Taste of China. Michele Bradford will speak about the Beacon of Hope shelter and take the group on a tour. Members are asked to bring sample-size toiletries for the shelter. For more information, call 771-2659.

Fish and Game club youth hunt

Extension district board meeting Oct. 17
The Clark County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.
Community Education classes
The following Community Education classes begin next week:
— Smartphone, Wednesday, Oct. 19, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., $60
— Lunch & Learn: Effective Communication Skills, Wednesday, Oct. 19, noon to 1 p.m., $10 for Chamber of Commerce members, $15 for non-members. Fix a Feral Cat meeting
“Fix a Feral Cat Campaign: Plan to Spay/Neuter Feral Cats in Clark County” will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Public Library. Absentee voting begins
Absentee voting is open for Clark County voters who will be out of the county during election day, Nov. 8. Hours for absentee voting at the Clark County Clerk’s office are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
