Community Education and Full Circle Market are both celebrating 15 years in existence, and to mark the occasion the organizations are partnering to offer the community a challenge: improve your health in 15 days.

At noon Saturday, visitors to Full Circle can sit in on a short presentation on clean eating and sample what the store offers.

Those interested can sign up for the 15-day challenge at the store.

“We’re hoping to help curb cravings for junk food as well as get people to read labels and increase their mindfulness,” Full Circle owner Laura Sheehan said.

Community Education Director Cora Heffner said the challenge addresses an issue that came up in a study by the Clark County Health Department. People involved with the study said the top health concerns among Clark County residents include curbing obesity and fighting drugs.

Sheehan and Heffner said the 15-day program they have planned involves taking several “baby steps” leading toward healthier living. Daily topics will include cleaning out cupboards to remove unhealthy food options, identifying staples each kitchen should have and more.

Sheehan said Full Circle will send out encouraging emails every day during the challenge to help support those taking part in the challenge.

After the 15 days is complete, participants can visit Full Circle and write on a chalkboard what they learned in order to be entered into a drawing for a prize gift basket with offerings from Community Education as well as the market.

Hefner said the event is an example of how local entities partnering together makes Clark County a better place as a whole.

“One of the great things about this community is the willing cooperation among the groups here,” she said. “Making different relationships makes the whole community better.”
