Historic Preservation Commission meeting Oct. 20

The Winchester Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 in the City Commission Chambers in City Hall.

The Winchester-Clark County Board of Adjustments will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.

Retired teachers meeting Oct. 18

The Clark County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon Oct. 18 at Taste of China. Michele Bradford will speak about the Beacon of Hope shelter and take the group on a tour. Members are asked to bring sample-size toiletries for the shelter. For more information, call 771-2659.

Licensing board meeting canceled

The Oct. 17 meeting of the Winchester Licensing Board has been canceled.

Fish and Game club youth hunt

The Clark County Fish & Game Club Waterfowl Hunters will host 20 youth hunters for breakfast and a hunt Nov. 5-6 at the Carroll Ecton Reservoir 1277 Water Works Road. For additional information, contact Lee Kerr at 771-5639 or visit www.ccfgclub.com.

Extension district board meeting Monday

The Clark County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

Fix a Feral Cat meeting

“Fix a Feral Cat Campaign: Plan to Spay/Neuter Feral Cats in Clark County” will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clark County Public Library. Presentation followed by discussion about locating the feral cats and fundraising for vouchers. Public welcome. For more information email homelesscats.13@gmail.com.

Absentee voting open

Absentee voting is open for Clark County voters who will be out of the county during election day, Nov. 8. Hours for absentee voting at the Clark County Clerk’s office are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Community Education classes 

The following Community Education classes begin next week:

— Smartphone, Wednesday, Oct. 19, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., $60.

— Lunch & Learn: Effective Communication Skills, Wednesday, Oct. 19, noon to 1 p.m., $10 for Chamber of Commerce members, $15 for non-members. Registration and payment are required two business days in advance.
