Aleen Noland Strong, 82

Aleen Noland Strong, 82, loving wife of Guy Strong, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at her home surrounded by those she loved.

A native of Irvine, Kentucky, she was born on November 3, 1933, to the late Jesse Thomas and Mina Maude Noland.

She was a graduate of Irvine High School and retired secretary of Becknerville and Strode Station Schools. She attended college at Virginia Tech, Kentucky Wesleyan University and Georgetown College. While attending Georgetown College she was crowned Belle of the Blue in 1952, the first ever freshman to receive the award.

Mrs. Strong was a committed Christian and a member of Central Baptist Church, where she participated in choir and taught Sunday school classes. She loved playing golf and bridge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Aleen loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always stressing her devout faith and generosity.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Mina (Ross) Seymour of Naperville, IL, Nancy Jane (David) Buffkin of Jacksonville, FL and Marla Simon of Winchester, KY; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Greg) Hodder, Ashley (Chris) Stokwisz, David Buffkin Jr., Donald Buffkin, Daniel Buffkin, Cole William Simon and Carter Guy Simon; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Hodder and Faye Stokwisz.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Dr. Leon Noland, Harold Noland and Paul Noland.

Services will be at 11:00AM Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Scobee Funeral Home by Pastor Tony Cecil. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Irvine, KY.

Pallbearers will be David Buffkin Sr., Ross Seymour, Donald Rowland Buffkin, Daniel Strong Buffkin, Cole William Simon and Carter Guy Simon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class of Lila Omohundro and Aleen Strong at Central Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00PM Friday, October 21, 2016, at Scobee Funeral Home.

Family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to neighbors, friends and family for their prayers, compassion and support.
