Community Education classes offered

The following Community Education classes will begin in the next two weeks.

— Excel: Beyond the Basics, 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 27 through Nov. 10, $60

— Art Class: Paint a Spoon Rest (adults), 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, $20

— Art Class: Paint a Spoon Rest (children ages 8 to 12), 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, $15

Benefit cookout for Blackwell

Winchester Professional Firefighters Local 1807 will host a cookout to raise funds for Kristy Blackwell, a sixth-grade teacher at Baker Intermediate School who is battling brain cancer. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rural King, 951 Bypass Road, and feature local 4-R cheeseburgers, chips and Ale-8-One. All proceeds will go to Blackwell.

Coffee with your Congressman 

U.S. Rep. Andy Barr will host “Coffee With Your Congressman” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Cairn Coffee House, 17 S. Main St. He will be joined by U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, who represents Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District. Attendees are responsible for their own meal. The event is open to the public. No RSVP is required.

Board of Adjustments meeting

The Winchester-Clark County Board of Adjustments will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the Commission Chambers at City Hall.

School board meeting

The Clark County Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Central Office, 1600 W. Lexington Ave. The meeting is open to the public.

 Absentee voting begins

Absentee voting is open for Clark County voters who will be out of the county during election day, Nov. 8. Hours for absentee voting at the Clark County Clerk’s office are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
