Candidates to speak at forum Thursday

With less than a week until election day, Clark Countians will have the chance to hear from candidates at a forum Thursday.

The forum for the 2016 general election will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

During the forum, candidates for local, state and U.S. offices will answers questions from the audience.

The following candidates have confirmed their participation in the forum:

— Kentucky Supreme Court Justice, 5th District: Glenn Acree and Larry VanMeter

— U.S. Representative: Republican Andy Barr, the incumbent, and Democrat Nancy Jo Kemper

— Clark County Board of Education, 2nd District: Todd Wilson, the incumbent, and Scott Hisle

— Circuit Judge Family Court, 25th District, 4th Division: Joan Deaton Grefer, Kimberly Blair Walson and Elizabeth Elkins Bond

— Winchester City Commission: Incumbents Rick Beach, Kenny Book, Shannon Cox and Kitty Strode and Ramsey Flynn and Ralph Harrison

— State Representative, 73rd District: Republican Donna Mayfield, the incumbent, and Democrat John Hendricks.

After introductions, two minutes will be allotted for each candidate to a give an opening statement. Candidates will have one minute to answer each question from the audience.

The forum can be heard live on WKYN radio 107.7 FM and will be streamed live at clarkcountyforum.com. It will be shown on local cable channel 5 or Time Warner Cable channel 306 beginning Oct. 29 through election day, Nov. 8.

Graham Johns will moderate the forum. Community volunteers will serve as timekeepers, runners and assist with audience questions.

The forums are co-sponsored by Clark County Community Education, Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce, WKYN and The Winchester Sun.
