A Clark County couple accused of assaulting each other with a fireplace poker will have to spend 30 days on home incarceration and stay away from each other.

Bobby Singleton, 79, and 43-year-old Tracy White were both arrested for second-degree assault Oct. 3 following an incident at their home on Browning Lane.

Wednesday afternoon, both pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in Clark District Court. Both were sentenced to 360 days, though they must serve 30 days on home incarceration. The remaining 330 days would be conditionally discharged for two years, provided they have no further offenses. They were also ordered to have no contact with each other during their home incarceration.

Both were previously released on bond.

According to court documents, deputy sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the residence and found Singleton with a head laceration and White with one on her shin.

Singleton said he was sleeping when White woke him by hitting him with a fireplace poker. White told deputies she was sleeping when Singleton attempted to initiate sex and his her with the poker when she refused.

The poker was found in the yard.
