Open burning banned 

Because of extreme dry conditions, Clark County Judge-Executive Henry Branham, upon advisement from Clark County Fire Chief Billy Jones, declared a ban on open burning effective Oct. 18. The ban is still in effect and will be until significant rainfall is recorded. For more information, contact the Clark County Fire Department at 745-0260.

City commission meeting Tuesday

The Winchester Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. at Winchester City Hall. Items on the agenda include a request from Leeds Center for the Arts and several personnel moves within the fire department. The Board will also have a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.

Yard waste collection cutoff

The last day for yard waste collection (green curb-its) for the 2016 season will be Thursday. Yard waste collection will resume again in 2017.

Human Services Council meeting 

The Clark County Human Services Council will meet at noon Tuesday at Arby’s. Representatives of all human service agencies serving Clark County are invited to attend.

Historic Preservation Committee meeting 

The Winchester Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the city commission chambers in City Hall.

4-H Council meeting Nov. 15

 The Clark County 4-H Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

American Legion meeting Nov. 17

American Legion Post 25 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Elks Club on Shoppers Drive. All veterans are welcome.
