Two people pleaded guilty Thursday in Clark Circuit Court to evidence tampering in connection with a double homicide from Wolfe County.

Carla Hunt, 31 of Owingsville, and 26-year-old Talmadge Branham of Jeffersonville were both indicted for tampering with physical evidence after they allegedly stopped in Clark County to wash a rental car used in a killing.

Both admitted to Clark Circuit Judge Jean Chenault Logue Thursday that they washed the vehicle to remove blood evidence.

Both were sentenced immediately to serve one year in prison, which is the minimum sentence.

According to published reports, Hunt and Branham were part of a group in a Wolfe County cabin in June. Two of those, Eugene Wade Jr. and Devante Hall, were charged in connection with the deaths of 25-year-old Brandy Davidson of Stanton and 33-year-old Devin Payton of Georgetown.

Payton reportedly got in a fight with Wade and Hall and was shot during the altercation, state police said. Davidson’s body was found in a wooded area near the cabin, while Payton’s was found later by a fisherman in Montgomery County.

Police believe the rental car was used by Branham and Hall to take the other two men to Lexington and to transport Payton’s body to Montgomery County. After they cleaned the car, they reportedly returned it to the rental company.
