Sue Frances Shearer Green, 95, devoted wife of the late Curtis Frank Green for 65 years, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.

A native of Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Mathew and Grace Lena Rupard Shearer, Sr. She graduated from the Clark County High School in 1939. In 1943 she graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College with Honorable mention. She also completed graduate credits at the University of Kentucky. She taught school in the Clark County School System for 37 years and retired in 1986.

In 1972, being nominated by Odell Gross, Principal of Victory Heights Elementary School, she was selected as an Outstanding Elementary Teacher Of America. She was a member of the Clark County Retired Teachers’ Association, KTRS, and NEA.

She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a former member of the Mt. Olive Baptist church where she also taught Sunday School, Bible School, and was a member of the WMU. 

Survivors include a son, and daughter-in-law, Curtis Mathew and Doris Pasley Green, Clark County, four grandchildren, Duane Mathew (Amy) Green, Kristy Gail (Jason) Craycraft, Clark County, Daniel Curtis (Allison) Green, Adams, TN, and Nathan Frank (Rhonda) Green, Montgomery County; twelve great-grandchildren, Makayla Lynn Green, Jacob Preston Green, Olivia Grace Craycraft, Avery Lee Green, Chandler Booth Green, Jason Wade Craycraft, Caleb Mathew Green, Lucas Nathan Green, Cooper Daniel Green, Maggie Lauren Craycraft, Kinley Grace Green, and Colbi (Brandon) Ferguson, Livermore, KY. One brother and sister-in-law, B.M. Jr. Shearer, Jane Hall Shearer, Winchester, KY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her late husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walsa Preston Shearer, and one sister, Virginia Rupard Shearer Pasley.

Services will be conducted at 7:00PM, Monday, December 5, 2016, at Northside Baptist Church by Rev. Jesse Kline. Burial will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 11:00AM, at the Winchester Cemetery Shelter. 

Active pallbearers will be grandchildren and spouses. Honorary pallbearers will be William P. “Bill” Shearer, Ronnie Shearer, Tommie Shearer, Morris Green and Bill Green. 

Visitation will be from 5:00PM until time of service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund 15 Pendleton Street, Winchester, KY 40391.
