J.P. Conkwright, a George Rogers Clark High School sophomore, has been selected to play trombone in the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wickline, Winchester, and Jeff Conkwright, Morehead.

Winners in Thursday’s bridge play at the Winchester Country Club were Bettye Guy, first, and Phyllis Hartshorn, second. Small slams were made by Sarah Norton and Mrs. Guy (2) and Mrs. Hartshorn.

Charlie Meadows and Dick Strahl, assistant managers at Walmart, presented a check for $750 to Dr. Ed Mesta, chairman of the Community Service Board. The money, donated from the Winchester store from a percentage of sales on Nov. 29, will be used to fund Operation Happiness.
