Fiscal Court meeting Wednesday

The Clark County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the fiscal courtroom. Items on the agenda include first readings of a joint ordinance for sign content standards and one to amend the policy and procedure manual for the Clark County Road Department.

Parks and Rec holiday hours

Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation will be closed Jan. 1. Facilities will close at 4 p.m. Saturday. Everything will reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

GRC SBDM meeting 

The George Rogers Clark High School-based Decision-making Council will meet at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, in the SBDM conference room.

Community prayer service 

There will be a community prayer service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Belmont Avenue. There will be prayers for Clark County’s schools, students and teachers; volunteers, churches and non-profits; law enforcement, court workers, emergency personnel and first responders; active duty and retired military; elected and appointed officials; and those in distress.

FAFSA family night 

Seniors and parents of seniors are invited to FAFSA Family Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 5 at George Rogers Clark High School. The event is hosted by GEAR UP and KHEAA. A light meal will be served. School board to meet Jan. 3

The Clark County Board of Education will hold an organizational board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, followed by a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be in the Board Room at the Central Office Building, 1600 W. Lexington Ave.

Sun holiday closing

The Winchester Sun offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of New Year’s Day. We will not produce a paper that day. Our New Year’s Sunday edition will be delivered early Saturday to allow employees to spend the holiday with their families. We will resume regular publication and office hours Tuesday, Jan. 3. WMU holiday changes 

Residential solid waste will be collected on Wednesday, Jan. 4 for Winchester Municipal Utilities customers that have collection Monday, Jan. 2. WMU will be closed Jan. 2 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Have brown curbits to the curb by 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4. For more information, call the solid waste department at 744-1170.
