Republican party meeting Saturday
The Clark County Republican party will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Golden Corral on Bypass Road. Jim Waters, executive director of the Bluegrass Institute will speak. All registered republicans are encouraged to attend.
FAFSA family night
Seniors and parents of seniors are invited to FAFSA Family Night from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at George Rogers Clark High School. The event is hosted by GEAR UP and KHEAA. A light meal will be served. Participants should bring the social security number for both parents and the student and 2015 tax information. For more information, contact alicia.riley@clark.kyschools.us.
Community prayer service Saturday
There will be a community prayer service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Christian Church, 40 Belmont Ave. There will be prayers for Clark County’s schools, students and teachers; volunteers, churches and non-profits; law enforcement, court workers, emergency personnel and first responders; active duty and retired military; elected and appointed officials; and those in distress.

Christmas tree collection
Winchester Municipal Utilities will collect live Christmas trees Jan. 16-19. Trees will be picked up on customers’ yard waste collection day. All trees must be free of stands, lights and ornaments. Trees should not be bagged. Have trees to the curb by 7 a.m. of scheduled pick-up day. Trees can also be brought directly to the transfer station for disposal at no cost. Class of 1948 meeting today
The Clark County High School Class of 1948 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. today at Maddie’s Cafe on Main Street. It was incorrectly printed in a previous edition that the lunch meeting was Tuesday. We regret the error.
Extension board meeting Jan. 13
The Clark County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.
