Pastor Raymond Spencer Jones believed that taking care of “the flock,” ministering to the sick and downtrodden, was his most important calling in life. And indeed, his greatest strength was connecting with people in need.

In his 92 years of life, Ray Jones served 10 churches from Kentucky to Ohio, California and back again. He took pride in starting 5 new churches during his career and led several building programs in others. He conducted stewardship campaigns in 3 states, held revivals from coast to coast and organized rallies in the L.A. area to raise money for a hospital in Zimbabwe.

Ray received training for the ministry from KY Christian College and Cincinnati Bible Seminary, where he graduated. His first full time ministry was in Hamilton, Ohio at the North 7th St. Church of Christ — and many years later concluded his ministry at that same church. His larger ministries were at First Christian Church in Dodge City, Kansas, and the Knott Ave. Christian Church in Anaheim, CA. For many years he also lead the Westside Church of Christ congregation in Hamilton, the Forest Dale Church of Christ in Springdale, Ohio, North Orange Christian Church in CA, as well as the Ferry Church in Waynesville, OH. After his formal retirement in 1991, Ray served as interim Minister at churches in Oxford and Bellbrook, OH.
