AARP Chapter 632 met Dec. 8, 2016, at the James B. Allen Generations Center.
Elizabeth Gay, president, presided. Twenty members and guests were present. The group pledged allegiance to the flag and Betty Ratliff Smith gave the invocation.
Following a potluck meal, Clark County Judge-Executive Henry Branham told about his position and responsibilities, and answered questions about Clark County government.
Colista Ledford gave the secretary’s report and Joyce Barnes gave the treasurer’s report which mentioned $709 in the treasury.
Gay reported the AARP Board had voted to donate as follows: Generations Center, $100; Salvation Army for victims of fires in Tennessee, $50; homeless coalition, $50; Beacon of Hope, $50; Clark County Prescription Assistance Program, $50. These donations, totaling $600, leave $109 in the treasury.
A vote was taken to change the day of meeting for AARP from the last Thursday of each month to the last Tuesday. The next meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Elizabeth thanked Betty Pace for furnishing the ham for the meal. Branham installed the officers — Gay, president; Pace, vice president; Ledford, secretary; and Barnes, treasurer.
Barnes presented a gift from AARP board members to Gay in appreciation and love for her service.
Smith told Christmas stories and door prizes were given out. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
