Second Thursday program 

Clark County author Joan P. Mayer will be the featured speaker at the Second Thursday program of the Bluegrass Heritage Museum at 6:30 p.m. today. Mayer will introduce her new book, “Of Family and Place,” covering local history and genealogy, along with a section about her parents, William Fauntleroy Pursley and Charlotte Brown Pursley and their early involvement that shaped the Iroquois Hunt Club. Extension board meeting Jan. 13

The Clark County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive.

East CC Water District meeting

The East Clark County Water District will have a board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at 118 Hopkins Lane.

Christmas tree collection 

Winchester Municipal Utilities will collect live Christmas trees Jan. 16-19. Trees will be picked up on customers’ yard waste collection day. All trees must be free of stands, lights and ornaments. Trees should not be bagged. Have trees to the curb by 7 a.m. of scheduled pick-up day. Trees can also be brought directly to the transfer station for disposal at no cost. WMU closed for MLK Day 

Residential solid waste will be collected Wednesday, Jan. 18, for Winchester Municipal Utilities customers with regular collection Monday, Jan. 16. WMU will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance on Martin Luther King Day. Brown curbits should be to the curb by 7 a.m. Jan. 18. Phoenix Housing Corp. meeting

The Board of Directors of the Phoenix Housing Corporation will have a meeting to elect officers at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the Clark County Health Department’s lower level meeting room, 400 Professional Ave.

AmbitionFest! 2017 

Join internationally-acclaimed leader Rich Harwood for AmbitionFest! 2017 at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Campbell Junior High School, 620 Boone Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

SRNA classes to be offered 

Community Education is offering a state registered nurse aide class this spring. Classes begin March 7 and continue through May 21. Comprehensive plan meetings

There will be two public meetings concerning updates to the Comprehensive Plan for input and discussion. The meetings will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at the Clark County Public Library and 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at Hall’s on the River. For more information, call 744-7019.
