Prodigal child service 

Epperson First Church of God is having a Prodigal Child service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29. Speakers will be Nash McIntosh, a senior in high school who once was a prodigal child, and Dr. Darryl Allen, a parent who once had a prodigal child. The service is to provide hope for you and your family. 

First Christian monthly mission

In January, First Christian Church’s Monthly Mission will benefit the Clark Co. Homeless Coalition. Donations may be left at the church office during the week or during services on Sunday. For more details of ways to help, visit www.helphomelessfamilies.org

FCC Friendship Brunch Jan. 26

First Christian Church’s Friendship Bunch will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at The Sage Rabbit, 438 S. Ashland Ave. in Lexington. It is a Chef-owned and family-run restaurant featuring local, artisanal and seasonal fare in the heart of Chevy Chase. To RSVP, call the church office at 744-3181.

Bible study and Breakfast 

Women’s B&B (Bible study & Breakfast) will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Coffee Café and Bakery, 740 Bypass Road. All women of the church and their guests are encouraged to attend.

FCC Sunday Nights Live resume

Sunday Nights Live resumes after a winter’s break  at First Christian Church with a fellowship supper at 5 p.m. followed by classes for all ages at 5:30. Meals can be delivered to the homebound. The menu will be potato soup Jan. 29. There will be a youth skate party Jan. 22 in lieu of a meal.

Leadership conference at COLG

The Church of the Living God, 114 Franklin Ave., will be hosting the Encounter Leadership Conference Jan. 20-21. There will be three sessions Friday, Jan. 20, beginning at 9 a.m. and a single session Satuurday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m. The conference is a gathering of multi-generational leaders for two days of worship, inspiration and connection. There is no registration fee and the conference is being conducted by the Pentecostal Church of God for the eastern region. Leaders and laity are welcome.

Broadway Christian warming center

Broadway Christian Church, 130 W. Broadway St., will serve as a warming center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days with inclement weather.

Gospel singing at Evangelist

There will be at gospel singing featuring praise singers from Irvine  at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Evangelist Outreach Ministries, 8 Bloomfield Road.

Celebrate Recovery meetings on Tuesdays

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program based on the eight beatitudes, the 12 steps and their biblical comparisons. This program is for any hurt, hang-up or habit. There is childcare available for ages newborn to 4 years and Celebration Place, a pre-covery program for ages 5 to 12. The meetings are every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Calvary Christian Church, 15 Redwing Drive. The Landing is a support program based on the eight beatitudes for teens struggling with issues such as family relationships, food issues, being bullied, low self-esteem, drugs, alcohol, cutting or behavior problems. The meetings are from 7 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays at the RAC, 17 S. Main St. For more information, call Dickie at Calvary Christian Church at 744-0817. 

Conversation and Communion

Conversation and Communion take place each week at Gaunce’s Deli. Participants will share a light meal or snack on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. and begin Bible study at 6 p.m. The study, which is led by the Rev. Chana Tetzlaff of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will be followed by holy communion.
