Sylvia Farber Green, 92

Sylvia Farber Green, 92, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of Winchester, Kentucky, died on January 20, 2017.

She was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, on April 14, 1924. Sylvia was a Holocaust survivor who came to the U.S. in 1946. She married Jake Green of Winchester, Kentucky, in 1949, and resided there until 2010 when she moved to Chattanooga, TN.

Sylvia was predeceased by her loving husband, Jake, in 1997.

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Marcia) Green, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sandy Green (Larry) Zuckerman, Chattanooga, TN. Sylvia leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Jenna, Kara, and Lindsay Green, and Jay Zuckerman. She also leaves behind loving niece, Sharon Farber (and family) Ra’anana, Israel, “adopted” daughter, Amy Boulware, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and many other dear friends in Chattanooga, Winchester and Lexington.

Sylvia was an active member of the following organizations: Ohavay Zion Synagogue in Lexington, Kentucky since 1949, Hadassah, Central Kentucky Jewish Federation, Chattanooga Jewish Federation, Jewish Holocaust Survivors, charter member of the Holocaust Museum, Washington, DC and was a volunteer for Clark Regional Medical Center from 1982-2010.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2:30 PM Monday at the Lexington Cemetery with a graveside service at 3PM.
