In the middle of winter, there’s nothing quite like sitting next to a roaring fire. If there’s dinner and an opportunity to learn , all the better.

Fort Boonesborough State Park’s February Fireside Chats resume Saturday and continue through the month at the fort on Kentucky 627 just across the river in Madison County.

Park manager Rob Minerich said the program has proven popular through the years.

“We sell out every year,” he said. “We only have space for about 100. If people are interested, they need to call now.”

The event includes a frontier dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a living history program at 6:45 p.m.

“It’s a first-person interpretation of an 18th century character,” he said.

This Saturday, the program will be about Daniel Boone, he said. On Feb. 11, the subject will be frontier scout Mad Anne Bailey. The following week features the Harpe brothers and “Murder on the Frontier.” The final chat on Feb. 25 will be about Maggie Delaney, who was an indentured servant.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations must be made in advance, though tickets may be paid for the night of the event, he said.

“It’s a wonderful event,” he said.
