The Pastor’s Choir of St. James Church will have a church birthday celebration at 3:30 p.m. today. Rev. Ron Ingram of the Franklin Avenue Church of the Living God will be guest speaker. Refreshments will be served following the program. Rev. E.P. Richards is host pastor.

Shane Byrd of Winchester, a 6-6 freshman at St. Catharine College in St. Catharine, Ky., is a starter for the Patriots this season and the No. 2 scorer on the team through 15 games.

Byrd has played in 13 of the team’s first 15 games, starting nine of those games. He is averaging 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. His field-goal percentage is 51 percent and he’s hit 31 of the 40 free throws for 78 percent.
