The Barre to bring Girls on the Run to Winchester

The Barre: A Fitness Boutique, is bringing a new program to Clark County in hopes of starting a trend in the school system.
Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization aimed at inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through an experience-based curriculum that incorporating running.
An announcement on Facebook from Shalanta Gullett of The Barre stated that the program will begin next week.
“My hearts desire is to start teaching these young girls that their lives matter, to teach them confidence, compassion, and how to live a healthy lifestyle,” Gullett said. “Running is free. Running can inspire making the seemingly impossible, possible, and teaching girls that they can.”
She said she hopes that after piloting the program it will grow large enough for every elementary school in the district to have its own GOTR chapter.
The Barre is currently seeking volunteers to be coaches, assistant coaches and running buddies. Anyone interested is asked to contact The Barre via Facebook or at 797-5972.
GOTR will meet every Tuesday and Thursday at The Barre, 116 S. Maple St., from 3:05 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. for 10 weeks beginning Feb. 7.
A training for coaches and assistant coaches will be from 5-9 p.m. today.
