Mary Lightner, a freshman guard for the Marist College Lady Foxes, has been showing the same shooting touch she had as a member of the 1990-91 state runnerup George Rogers Clark High School Lady Cardinals.

Mary, the daughter of Mike and Sherry Lightner of Winchester, is averaging 4.3 points per game off the bench, including a career-high 15 points on four three-pointers in a loss to Fairleigh Dickinson, the first-place team in the Northeast conference.

Maisha Thomas of Winchester has worked her way into the starting lineup of the Eastern Kentucky University Lady Colonels as a freshman guard and is leading the team in free-throw percentage.

Thomas started 14 of Eastern’s 19 games. She is hitting 42.4 percent from the field, averaging 25.7 minutes and 7.2 points per game.

From the free-throw line Thomas is 58 of 78 for 74.4 percent, tops on the team.
