John Samuel Abney, 73, of Winchester, widower of Minnie “Gerrie” Abney, passed away Saturday at his home.

A native of Clark County, he was born March 29, 1943, to the late Claude Abney and Iva Bailey Abney Dyer.

He is survived by one daughter, 2 sons, 2 step-sons, brother, Carl (Stacy) Abney of Alabama, two sisters, Mary “Jo” Perkins of Winchester and Wilma Tracy of Winchester, also several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son, David Abney.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon until 1:30p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street.
