City commission meeting today

The Winchester Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. today at Winchester City Hall. Items on the agenda include a presentation about the Sphar building from GRW Engineering. The commissioners will also meet in special session at 4:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.

Clark fiscal court meeting

The Clark County Fiscal Court will meet in regular session at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Clark County Courthouse.

GIS board meeting

There will be a special meeting of the Clark County GIS Board at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27 in the basement conference room at the Clark County Courthouse, 34 S. Main St.

AARP offers tax preparation help

The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation program will offer free tax preparation, counseling and electronic filing and Mondays and Tuesday until April 18 at the Central Baptist Church annex, 101 W. Lexington Ave. Taxpayers should bring their 2015 tax return and all documents showing 2016 income. Those itemizing should also bring proof of taxes paid and contributions.

Mayfield to speak to Kiwanis

State Rep. Donna Mayfield will update Winchester Kiwanis Club members and visitors on the latest changes in Frankfort during the Club’s meeting at noon March 1 at Taste of China.

School board meeting 

The Clark County Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at Central Office, 1600 W. Lexington Ave. The meeting is open to the public.

SRNA classes to be offered 

Community Education is offering a state registered nurse aide class this spring. Classes begin March 7 and continue through May 21. Classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuition is $280 and is due by Feb. 24. Contact Community Education at 859-745-3946 or clark.comm.ed@gmail.com or 24 W. Community Education classes offered 

Clark County Community Education will offer the following classes in the next two weeks:

— Yoga fitness: 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays, March 1 through April 5, $25 ($20 for parks and recreation members).

— Bellydance Fitness: 7:15-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 1 through April 5, $30 ($20 for parks and recreation members).

— Conversational Spanish: 6-7:30 p.m., Thursdays March 2 through April 20 (no class April 6) and Thursdays, April 27 through June 8, 6-7:30 p.m., $75 per 7-week session.

— Ballroom dance: 7;8:45 p.m. Tuesdays, March 7 through April 25, $100 per couple ($90 per couple for parks and recreation members).
