Rainy weather outside proved to be an ideal backdrop Tuesday evening for the WinchesterBoard of Commissioners to discuss stormwater and drainage problems. The board approved creation of a task force to study all the basic options the city has to help resolve the longtime problem.

A lesson on marbling was given by Doris Thornberry and Liz Thornberry at the Feb. 12 meeting of the Old Pine Grove Homemakers Club. The meeting was conducted by Voris Stevenson, president, and the devotional and thought for the month, “Love,” were given by Tish Jones.

Amber Miller celebrated her seventh birthday Thursday with a party at her home, 31 Elizabeth St. Guests were Stacy Brinegar, Amy Gilpin, Angela, B.J. and Amanda Poole, Michelle, Angel and Hope Hall. Hosts were Amber’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hawkins.
