Grace J. Sivia, 93, died peacefully at home on February 23, 2017.

Born in Chicago, IL, she left nursing school to marry Jerome Sivia in 1943; together they raised a family of 5 and taught them the value of hard work, fix-it yourself and independent thinking. Mom will be remembered for her love of family, friends and church. She could sew anything, had a green thumb and made the best chocolate chip cookies!

She lived in Chicago and Glenwood, IL before retiring with Jerry to Brooksville, FL. Married 58 years, Grace moved to Winchester, KY after his death where she enjoyed quilting, card games, Lawrence Welk and family holidays to SC and St. Michaels, MD. She enjoyed her neighbors and porch swing at her Brooks Place cottage.

Preceded in death by her parents and a sister Lee Bolton; survived by her children and spouses: Mike (Nancy Field) Sivia, Sequim, WA, Karen (Paul) Evenson, Newark, DE, Tim (Pam Callison), Isle of Palms, SC, Susie (Bill) Shearer, Winchester, KY, Pete (Rev. Janet Larner), Midland, MI. Grandchildren, Mark Evenson, Vienna, Austria, Cathy (Ken) Kebrich, Towson, MD, Liz Evenson, Washington, DC, Ben Shearer, Winchester, David Shearer, Nashville, TN, Kellee (Chad) French, Georgetown, KY, and Kate Sivia, Midland, MI. Great-grandchildren Daisy Evenson, Will French, Katie and Clara Kebrich. Also surviving are a brother Ernie (Barb) Oskin of Washington, DC and a sister, Bette Dusanic, Stuart, FL and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A member of St. Joseph’s parish, there will be a funeral mass at 1:00pm on Tuesday, February 28 with visitation at the church from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.

The family would like to thank Grace’s devoted caregivers who gifted us three more years with mom: Brandy, Kathy, Marla, Michelle, and Sarah and Kelly and Margaret of Hospice East — she loved them all and would grin and roll her eyes at their jokes and visits.
