Winchester man pleads guilty to manslaughter

A Winchester man pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge for the 2015 death of a man in Lexington.

According to news reports, Dustin Yost pleaded guilty Tuesday in Fayette Circuit Court to second-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.

He could receive up to 10 years for manslaughter and five for tampering when he in sentenced March 30.

Yost was charged with killing 20-year-old Vondre R. Smithers on March 17, 2015, reportedly in connection with a drug deal.

Smithers was found near Bellefonte Drive with a gunshot wound to his head. He died later that day at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
