The Campbell Jr. High soccer teams picked up road victories this week when they cruised past Grant County Wednesday.
The girls team were 5-1 winners, jumping in front with a Laykin Griffith goal with an assist by Bailey Ratliff. Autumn Scott added a second goal with an assist from Griffith.
Tori Flickinger scored a pair of goals in the second half and Griffith scored a second goal to give the Cardinals five goals.
“We came out more aggressive tonight, and we possessed the ball,” Campbell coach Daniel Johnson said. “We were beating Grant County to the ball almost every time.”
The boys were 5-2 victors, getting a pair of goals from Jonathan Stefenski in the first half. Skyler Hamon, Andrew Carter and Trevon Curtis each scored in the second half. Hamon also had an assist.
“Good win tonight,” Campbell coach Rex Catron said. “We had many chances but just could not finish as many as I would have liked. We have a talented team. With every game, they grow more accustomed to each other. Glad to get the second win of the season and the first win of the conference.”
Campbell will take on Royal Spring in Georgetown Monday in a makeup game.
