Grimes Mill Road closed

County officials closed Grimes Mill Road after a bridge near Munch’s Corner failed Saturday. The county is seeking an emergency declaration and a temporary repair to re-open the road.

School board work session Tuesday

The Clark County Board of Education will meet for a work session at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at Central Office, 1600 W. Lexington Ave. The meeting is open to the public. Agenda items include discussion of demographic and enrollment projections and updated salary schedules.

Fiscal Court budget workshop

The Clark County Fiscal Court will have its first budget workshop meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Courthouse. Scheduled presentations include parks and recreation, the Generations Center, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the industrial authority.

Shearer Advisory Council meeting

The Shearer Elementary Family Resource Center will meet at 6 p.m. today at the school.

Kiwanis meeting 

The Winchester Kiwanis Club will meet at noon Wednesday at Taste of China. The speaker will be Winn Stephens of the Children’s Advocacy of the Bluegrass.

AARP offers tax preparation help

The AARP Tax-Aide Foundation program will offer free tax preparation, counseling and electronic filing Mondays and Tuesdays until April 18 at the Central Baptist Church annex, 101 W. Lexington Ave. Taxpayers should bring their 2015 tax return and all documents showing 2016 income. Those itemizing should also bring proof of taxes paid and contributions.

Republican Party meeting 

The Clark County Republican Party meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Golden Corral. Mike Duncan, former chairman of the National Republican Party and current member of the Republican National Committee, will speak. All registered Republicans are welcome to attend.
