On a recent Thursday morning, Della Williams, Joan Wise, Mary Ruth Raney and her daughter Elaine Stamper, members of the Indian Old Fields Homemakers, were working on Clark County’s quilt in a cabin behind the Old Rock Barn, handstitching the lines that connect the top, the batting and the backing.

Eating healthily was the subject of the March meeting of the Young Generation Homemakers Club. Alice Lanter and Natalie Woosley presented the lesson on “Prevention of Chronic Disease through a Healthy Diet.”

When the George Rogers Clark High School Lady Cardinals softball team advanced to the region championship game two seasons ago with a young team, they were affectionately known as the “baby birds.”

This season Clark coach Pat Quisenberry hopes to go as far or further than that team with a grueling schedule which includes a 27-day road trip.
