The forecast is great for a new downtown event set for Saturday.

More than 20 businesses throughout downtown Winchester are participating in Spring into Downtown, an event to replace Spring into Sweets.

Main Street Winchester Executive Director Rachel Alexander said there will be events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as businesses offer specials and promotions, along with outdoor events for children.

“We’ll have an Easter bunny there from 2 to 4 p.m. on the high side of Main Street,” she said. “We’ll also have sidewalk chalk for the kids.

“The weather’s looking good so you couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Up and down Main Street from Washington Street to Lexington Avenue, 21 stores and restaurants have all signed up to participate, she said.

“Our downtown businesses are wonderful,” Alexander said. “They’re always willing to participate in events. This event is perfect on the calendar. It’s warming up and people are looking to get out of the house.”

It’s also a great time to look for Easter outfits or hostess gifts, she said.

“We hope people will come downtown and discover our new businesses and enjoy their old favorites,” she said.

Participating businesses include The Winchester Art Guild’s Artisan Gifts and Gallery, Eklektic Alchemy, Mason on Main, Jako’s boutique, Court Street Gifts, Created By You, Rosebuds Boutique, Wizards of Game, Big Blue Woodworks, Dirty South Pottery, Heart to Home, Plowshares Trading Post, Harpers Pawn Shop, D&S Hardware and Station Ridge Farm, In and Out BBQ, The Cairn, Sugar Belles, Bentley and Murray, Lularoe, the Prissy Peach Boutique and the Bluegrass Heritage Museum.
