GRC baseball collects 12 hits in win over Sayre

Dakota Puckett reached base four times with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate, driving in three runs and scoring twice in the George Rogers Clark High School baseball team’s 9-2 win over visiting Sayre Monday.

Alex Back threw a complete game, striking out three and allowing just one earned run on four hits.

GRC fell behind 2-0 in the first, but Puckett’s single in the second tied it. It was all GRC after that.

Eight different Cardinals had hits in the win. Puckett, Cameron Dove and Jaxson Davis had multi-hit games. Dove drove in a run and scored once.

Davis had two hits, drove in two runs, scores twice and walked twice.

Dove and Davis each had a double.

Tyler walton had a hit, a run and a base on balls. Keaton Aldridge reached base three times with a hit and a pair of walks.

Dove, Davis, Puckett and Will Marsillett each stole a base.

GRC improved to 10-3, winning each of the past four. The Cardinals travel to Madison Southern tonight before returning home Thursday to face Paris in their district opener.
