The George Rogers Clark High School boys and girls track teams continue their strong season with quality performances at the Bath County Invitational Tuesday night.

The boys team won first place and the girls took second place in the 12-team meet.

The boys earned 75 points to top Bath County’s 63.5. Montgomery County took third with 46.50 — which barely edged Rowan County’s 46.

The girls scored 52 points putting them between Bath County’s first-place earning 65 points and third-place Nicholas County, who earned 51.

“After hosting a successful home meet at Transy, we were pleased to work through the rain for another win,” GRC coach Dodd Dixon said. “We are starting to get everything working together this season. The springs, throws and relays are looking good. We need to focus on our jumps and the distances events over the next several weeks.”

Dasia Galnton’s time of 14.19 earned her third place in the girls 100m dash.

Skyler Carmicheal finished second in the 100m hurdles. She also finished second in the pole vault by clearing 8 feet.

Emma Taylor finished fourth in the 1600m run.

Makenzie Cooper won the long jump with a 15-foot-11-inch leap.

Maria Jackson, Rachel Puckett, Kirsten Ratliff and Emma Bowling finished fourth in the 4x800m relay.

The relay team of Joseph Happy, Azariah Israel, Tre’von Jones and Natavious Thomas won the 4x200m.

Jones, Happy, Thomas and AJ Connor won the 4x100m relay.

Happy and Jones finished third and fourth respectively in the boys 100m dash.

Jonathan Reitral finished second in the 110m hurdles.

Daniel Helgeson finished second in the long jump.

Jarrius Dixon and Isaiah Carpenter finished in first and second respectively in the shot put.

Cord Tackett took fifth place in the 1600m run while Cody Cooper finished sixth in the event.

The Cardinals will be in action again April 21 in Ashland to take part in the Ernie Chattin Memorial Meet.
