GIS special meeting

There will be a special meeting of the Clark County GIS Board of Directors at 10 a.m. Friday, April 21, at Winchester Municipal Utilities Administration Building, 150 N Main St. This is in place of the regular April 25 meeting.

Licensing board meeting Monday

The Winchester Licensing Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at Winchester City Hall. The agenda includes discussion of liquor license applications by Dickey’s Barbecue and Terry and Kathy’s on Boone Avenue.

City commission meeting Tuesday

The Winchester Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Winchester City Hall. Items on the agenda include consideration of a draft nuisance ordinance and a report on the Clark County needle exchange program. There will be a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.

County budget meeting

The Clark County Fiscal Court will have a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Courthouse. The agenda includes discussion of the 2018 fiscal year budget and an order requiring all county-owned vehicles to be marked.

The following are upcoming Community Education classes:

— OneNote, 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 24, and Thursday, April 27, $45

— Conversational Spanish, 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 27 through June 8, $75.

Retired teachers to

conduct lunch meeting 

The Clark County Retired Teachers Association will meet Tuesday in the private dining room at Woody’s near Rural King on the Bypass. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., and members will order from the menu. The business meeting will begin at 12:15 p.m. Guest speaker will be Sharron Oxendine, former George Rogers Clark High School math teacher and past president of the Kentucky Education Association.

Hydrant flushings

continue Monday 

Winchester Municipal Utilities has completed flowing hydrants in the city limits and begin flowing hydrants in the county next week. Hydrant flushings will take place in the following areas Monday: BLT Way, Caudill Drive, Glenway Road, Hud Road, JNT Way, Lamond Ruelle, Lexington Road, Old Revilo Road, Revilo Road, Rockwell Road, Salamar Rue, Tierney Way, Van Meter Road, Yeiser Road and WMU Access Road.

East Clark water meeting

The East Clark County Water District board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at 118 Hopkins Lane.

BCTC hosting blood drive 

The Kentucky Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Winchester-Clark County campus from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.

Generation Center hosting medication safety program 

The James B. Allen Generation Center, 32 Meadow St., will host a free educational program about medication safety provided by Maria Chapman of the Kentucky Poison Control Center at 10:20 a.m. Thursday. For more information, contact Diana Sims at 744-3235.

Clark County Democrats meeting

The Clark County Democrat Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Golden Corral. All registered Democrats are invited.

School board meetings 

There will be a special meeting of the Clark County School District Finance Corporation at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Central Office, 1600 W. Lexington Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to consider adopting a resolution authorizing the issuance of school building energy conservation revenue bonds for building purposes.

There will also be a regular meeting of the Clark County Board of Education at 6:30 p.m. Both are open to the public.

Historic Preservation

Commission to meet 

The Winchester Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the commission chambers at City Hall.

Youth fishing day May 13

The Clark County Fish and Game Club’s annual youth fishing day will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at the clubhouse on Water Works Road. The event is free and open to all youth 15 and younger. Bluegill tourney May 20

The Clark County Fish and Game Club will hold an open bluegill tournament from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday May 20. The event, which is open to anyone 16 years of age and older, will be at the Carroll Ecton Reservoir, 1255 Water Works Road. For more information, call Lee Kerr at 771-5639.
