Karen T. Harris scholarship 5K rescheduled
The Karen T. Harris GRC Senior Cheerleader Scholarship 5K scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for next Saturday, April 29, because of expected rain. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with the run/walk starting at 10 a.m. and fellowship from noon to 1 p.m. all at Campbell Jr. High School. Registration is $15 for adults and $5 for children of participating runners/walkers. Funds raised greater than $400 will go the American Heart Association. Preregister or donate by emailing ruthannetts@twc.com.
AARP to meet April 25
AARP Chapter 632 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the James B. Allen Generations Center. The Rev. Kenny Speakes of Mt. Zion Christian Church will be the featured speaker. AARP tax preparers will also be honored.
Red River Road closed starting April 24
Red River Road will be closed between Jackson Ferry and White-Conkwright roads from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for repaving. Motorists can use Irvine Road, Main Street or Muddy Creek Road as alternate routes. The work is subject to change from weather and other factors.
Youth fishing day May 13
The Clark County Fish and Game Club’s annual youth fishing day will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at the clubhouse on Water Works Road. The event is free and open to all youth 15 and younger. Bluegill tourney May 20
The Clark County Fish and Game Club will hold an open bluegill tournament from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday May 20. The event, which is open to anyone 16 years of age and older, will be at the Carroll Ecton Reservoir, 1255 Water Works Road. For more information, call Lee Kerr at 771-5639.
