Two people charged with not seeking medical attention for an infant after the child fell off a bed pleaded not guilty to their charges Thursday.

Jessica Burton, 22, and Jamie Mulligan, 28, were indicted for first-degree criminal abuse in April. According to the indictment, Burton and Mulligan were fighting on March 26 while the 5-month-old child was alone on a bed inside the residence. The child reportedly fell off the bed and sustained a skull fracture. The two allegedly did not take the child to the doctor following the incident.

Thursday in Clark Circuit Court, public defenders were appointed for both. They pleaded not guilty and are due back in court May 18.
