Within the next month, portions of six county roads should get a new layer of asphalt.
Wednesday morning, the Clark County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the list which calls for portions of Van Meter Road, East Broadway Street, Reims Drive, Reims Court, Lasalle Drive and Lasalle Court to be resurfaced.
Clark County Road Supervisor Kevin Wilson said the work should be done very quickly and that The Allen Company would honor last year’s state contract price for asphalt of $72.50 per ton.
The biggest project will be on Van Meter Road, which calls for 3.6 miles or new surface. Wilson said that project will be paid with $148,000 in state Local Government Economic Assistance funds.
The remaining $62,350 will come from other road department funds, he said.
The list of roads includes:
— East Broadway, .294 mile from Hiawatha Trail to Ky. 89
— Lasalle Drive, .212 mile from Calmes Boulevard to Lasalle Court.
— Lasalle Court, .097 mile from Calmes Boulevard to the cul-de-sac.
— Reims Drive, .18 mile from Calmes Boulevard to Lafayette Boulevard.
— Reims Court, .034 mile from Reims Drive to the cul-de-sac.
The total projected bill is $210,400, according to documents presented to the fiscal court.
Wilson said he expects to be able to resurface more roads once the new fiscal year begins July 1.
