Nancy Lee Banton Atchison, 91, passed away on May 14, 2017.

She was the daughter of John Rhea Banton and Georgia Brodie Banton. She was born on December 10, 1925 in Simpson County Kentucky.

Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Paul C. Atchison, Sr. and two sisters Jane Spear and Lillian Monroe.

Survived by a son, Paul C. Atchison, Jr. (Kay) two granddaughters, Melissa Crosby (Jeff) of Frankfort, KY and Kathy True (Scott) of Winchester, KY, four great grandsons, Joshua Crosby (Madison), Matthew Crosby, Troy True and Travis True, and one sister Annis Hill of McMinnville, TN.

Married January 16, 1943 for 67 years until Paul’s death February 20, 2010. Lived in Simpson County and Logan County for 62 years. In 2005 they moved to Winchester, KY to be near their son. Nancy and Paul loved being with people and loved entertaining friends and family in their home.

Nancy was a telephone operator for eight years until the Russellville office converted from switchboard to a dial system. She then worked at Western Kentucky Gas Company as cashier and office manager for 30 years until retirement.

She was a committed Christian lady who was always thinking of others. She loved God, her family, people and her church. She was a lifelong active member of Baptist Churches. She accepted Christ as her savior as a small child at Middleton Baptist Church in Simpson County. She was also a member of New Union in Logan County, First Baptist in Russellville and Central Baptist in Winchester. She taught Sunday School for various age groups for over 60 years, was a life long member of her church’s Woman’s Missionary Union and held various other church positions.

She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Russellville and the DAR Hart Chapter in Winchester. She was proud that her forefathers fought to gain our freedom in the United Sates.

She was a member of the Live Longer and Like It (LLL) Band of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed performing with the band in Nursing Homes.

Honorary pallbearers are the Logan County and Hart Chapters of the DAR and the LLL Band members.

Visitation at Scobee Funeral Home at 5:00 pm EDT with the funeral following at 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 16.

Visitation will also be at Young Funeral Home, Russellville, KY at 1:00 pm CDT with the funeral following at 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 17. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Simpson County.
